Welcome to the orchestra

La Chambre Symphonique aims to establish  a new relationship with its audience, proposing a young and modern image of symphonic music. We are convinced that passion and talent should be shared; from this ideal, the orchestra offers a new journey with each concert - from the soul of its musicians through the heart of the symphonic repertoire.

Since its inception, La Chambre Symphonique has offered intriguing concerts. From East to West and back again, our concert seasons feature composers from a variety of eras and cultures : Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Dvorak, Brahms, Mahler, through to the classics of Beethoven and Mozart.

La Chambre Symphonique also permits each of its musicians to enrich their own experience by creating an informal, chamber music-like atmosphere within the orchestra, based on the mutual respect of the performers.

Although its musicians arrive from all corners of France and neighboring countries, they renew their dedication to La Chambre Symphonique at every session, building an ensemble which has grown and developed together, even when they are miles apart.

Our Fearless leader : Loïc Emmelin

The founder of La Chambre Symphonique, Loïc Emmelin has been conducting the orchestra since its first concert in February 2018.
Loïc began his musical education on the violin with Martine Lecointre, concertmaster of the Orchestra Symphonique Lyonnais, who would introduce him to the world of the orchestra.

He was intrigued early on by the role of the conductor, and initiated his studies under Philippe Fournier (musical director of the Orchestra des Confluences, Lyon). Loic continued to study conducting, during and also after completing a diploma in science at the University of Lyon. He studied with Éric Varion at the Conservatoire de Saint-Étienne, then he acquired a solid foundation and developed his conducting technique in the class of Philippe Cambreling, at the Conservatoire of Chalon-sur-Saône.

In addition to his direction of numerous ensembles, Loïc has participated in various symphonic projects and ballets, including a creation for 70 musicians, by the composer Christian Hamouy. During masterclasses, he worked with various conductors such as Jean-Sébastien Béreau (Portugal), Peter Fender (London) and Aurélien Azan-Zielinski (Lausanne).

In November 2018, Loïc became an assistant conductor to Fabrice Pierre at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon for the productions of the Atelier XX-XXI, which feature various creations and contemporary works. Through this association, Loïc has had the opportunity to work with many composers: Philippe Hurel, Philippe Manoury, Roque Rivas and Yann Maresz, as well as CNSMD teachers Luca Antignani, Michele Tadini and Martin Matalon. These precious experiences of collaboration with composers has given Loïc the desire to continue to bring contemporary repertoire to life and to take part in creations with La Chambre Symphonique.
